The Uganda Health Marketing Group (UHMG) invites you to apply for the second Leadership in Strategic Communication Workshop (LSCW). This two-week course, is led by a team of highly trained and experienced UHMG Strategic Communication Trainers and a distinguished faculty of public health, policy and development experts from Ministry of Health Uganda and John Hopkins Centre for Communication Programmes. This highly participatory course has been described as a transformative experience, designed for versatile and dynamic individuals who seek to lead within and beyond their organizations.
Who is this course for?
Mid and Senior level communication professionals in Health, Finance, Education and other departments related to global development
Project leaders interested in staying current with the latest social and behaviour change communication program design approaches and new models for evaluation
Global health and development program managers seeking to increase their knowledge of strategic communication in the context of program design
Donor agency staff who manage complex health and development projects in their region and/or who oversee implementing organizations
Development professionals working in social and behaviour change communication, knowledge management and other areas of communication seeking to understand and incorporate strategic communication in program design, implementation and evaluation
LSCW has over 5,000 alumni in 100 countries around the world. The alumni include country Presidents, Ministers of health, USAID mission directors, and other leaders in government, public health, global development, medicine, and communication.
What will you gain?
Practical, accelerated learning of communication theory, design and measurement strategies, with a focus on social and behaviour change.

Free offsite mentorship on leadership and strategic communication for one year.
What will you do?
Working in a team, participants will develop a scalable strategic communication campaigns based on a pre-determined development challenges. In developing communication campaigns, participants, will learn how to:
an effective strategic communication campaign.
, pre-test and implement evidence-based culturally-relevant messages.
Master human-centred process to create innovative solutions to real-world challenges.
Gain into how to integrate social marketing, Advocacy, Gender and knowledge management into programme implementation
and evaluate communication program results.
The total cost per participant is $1600 and this will include; Tuition fees, course materials, meals, and accommodation. Uganda Health Marketing Group does NOT provide financial assistance to applicants, and therefore it is the responsibility of each participant to find his or her own source of funding.
All participants are required to stay in the same hotel that will be confirmed soon. UHMG will oversee, coordinate, confirm and pay for all hotel accommodation for the course period of 12 nights. Your meal package includes breakfast, morning/afternoon snacks, and lunch (except on Saturdays and Sundays). Please note that dinner and weekend meals are not included in the package. UHMG will cater for transportation from Kampala to the workshop venue and back.
Each organization is expected to cater for its participant(s) per diem that will cover their cost of dinners, transportation from respective organization to pick up point in Kampala and any other incidentals while at the workshop. This sum should be given directly to the applicant before arrival at the workshop.
