Strengthening Civil Society for Improved HIV/AIDS and OVC service delivery in Uganda (SCIPHA) is an 18 months project, implemented by a consortium comprising of Joint Clinical Research Centre (JCRC) and Uganda Health Marketing Group (UHMG). SCIPHA works in partnership with the District Local Governments and Civil Society Organizations. The project is implemented in 5 regions of Uganda with coverage of 19 Districts. These regions of SCIPHA operation include West Nile, Northern, Central, Mid-western and Eastern. The districts consist of; Moyo, Koboko, Arua, Nebbi, Kalangala, Mpigi, Mityana, Kiboga, Gulu, Lira, Amolatar, Katakwi, Soroti, Tororo, Kabarole, Bundibugyo, Kasese, Hoima and Masindi.
Project Objectives;
- Increase access and utilization of HIV/AIDS prevention, care, treatment and support services
- Strengthen quality of HIV prevention, care and treatment services
- Establish effective referrals, linkages and partnerships for comprehensive HIV services
- Enhance the capacity of Civil Society Funded Organisations to deliver quality HIV prevention, care and treatment services.
Program Areas; Sexual Prevention, Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission of HIV (PMTCT), HIV Counselling and Testing, Prevention with Positives and Medical Male Circumcision.
The targeted audience includes; Discordant couples; MARPS ( Commercial Sex Workers, Fisher Folks, Truckers); The Youth in & out of school (15 – 24 years); Children aged 15 years and under; Adults 25+; Males 15+ (MMC); HIV+ pregnant mothers and their infants.
