SALES AND DISTRIBUTION MANAGER – 1 POST

Job Summary:
The primary responsibility of this position is to market products under the DFID-funded project, and ensure smooth distribution to the project districts, while ensuring achievement of sales distribution and collection targets of the Product Facility.
The job holder is a key member of the team, and contributes to the strategic direction of this business unit.  The person for this position should have the capacity to work under minimum supervision, maintain systematic records, as well as ensuring the timely performance and completion of assignments, while upholding our Core Values.

This position requires a highly skilled person who has capacity in sales and distribution of health-care products.  The person should be result-oriented, and have strong conceptual and analytical skills.  The position requires a flexible and resilient person, willing to work for extended hours.

Essential Job Functions:
The Sales and Distribution Manager will be specifically responsible for the following tasks:-

  1. Supervise and coordinate the sales and marketing team and ensure the achievement of monthly value sales and collection and monthly product wise volume.
  2. Prepare monthly and quarterly performance reviews of each sales team member against planned targets and provide performance feedback and revised implementation plans to the PF Director.
  3. Analyze weekly market data/reports obtained from sales team, and provide weekly feedback on progress of sales, strategy implementation and market intelligence.
  4. Prepare and submit monthly report to PF Director as per the report format provided.
  5. Develop and implement a monthly field visits plan to work with sales and distribution Officers.
  6. Ensure that the monthly field work plan provided by each member of the sales team includes the right mix of customers/providers’ calls which will help achieve the set targets.
  7. Coordinate the efficient distribution of FP (Family Planning) products to ensure country wide coverage and organize timely servicing of all orders, including approval of all dispatches from the warehouse.  
  8. Coordinate with directorate of social marketing to ensure product promotional materials are available to sales teams.
  9. Take the lead in developing the sales strategy and ensure implementation of all field strategies by the sales team as per approved plan for the month.
  10. Work with the sales team to develop a 3-months rolling plan with targets and promotional plan for each sales person.
  11. Approve all orders received by the sales team and pass it on to the warehouse supervisor for onward dispatch to the customers.
  12. Keep proper customer records and credit application details as required by the PF guidelines and ensure outstanding dues are paid within the credit period.
  13. Ensure daily, monthly reports and master visit cards from the sales team are received on time for timely action.
  14. Prepare and submit a 3-month rolling forecast to enable the Logistics and Procurement Manager ensure no stock-outs.

 

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelors Degree/Diploma in Marketing & Business Administration. Experience in selling pharmaceutical products and other allied health care products is a must. Additional qualification in any of the health sciences will be an added advantage. Computer literate with knowledge of basic programs.years experience managing sales and distribution of health care products in a medium sized organization. Robust understanding of pharmaceutical products and other allied health care products. A Self starter, focused, disciplined, have the drive and dynamism to work under pressure with competing deadlines, and possess the ability to make an immediate impact. Possess excellent communication, advocacy, negotiation, interpersonal, analytical and result-oriented skills, experience in managing customers, and have the ability to discern and identify potential customers for the organizations’ products. Good judgment, initiative, high sense of responsibility, tact, ability to plan. Organized, honest, with a high level of energy and integrity, and able to work under minimum supervision. Should be easily trainable, flexible, innovative, with good record keeping, communication, report-writing, and interpersonal skills. Have excellent interpersonal skills, able to relate with staff effectively and work with a multi-cultural team within the organization.
