Job Summary:
The primary responsibility of this position is to support the Research Department in the research, data collection planning process, implementation and monitoring of the DFID-funded project. The Research Assistant serves as technical person for the regular update of the UHMG database.
This position requires a person with the capacity and proficiency in data collection, processing, development, and maintenance. The position requires a flexible person, with the capacity to perform without supervision, and work beyond the required time to fulfill the organization’s goals. The position requires a person willing to travel to the field as and when the need arises, and will undertake timely reporting, while upholding our Core Values.
Essential Job Functions:
The Research Assistant will be specifically responsible for the following tasks:-
- Undertake routine collection of data from service outlets supported by UHMG.
- Regularly update the UHMG database.
- Carry out routine on-line data entry as may be required by development partners.
- Collect both qualitative and quantitative data as and when the need arises.
- Assist the Research department in any activities related to its technical operations.
- Undertake any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelors Degree in studies relevant to Social Sciences, Research or any other related field. Post graduate qualification in related field will be an added advantage. Computer literate with hands-on experience in data management applications required. Knowledge of data-processing and statistical analysis software, namely MS Access, Strata and SPSS, a must. At least 2 years work experience in research and data management in a private sector or development organization. Conversant with data entry, and willing to learn new concepts and techniques. Conversant with both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies. Energetic, dynamic team player, and portray innovation. Focused, easily trainable, and flexible. Excellent oral and written communication skills, proposal writing, facilitation and presentation skills. Have excellent interpersonal skills, able to relate with staff effectively and work with a multi-cultural team within the organization.
