UHMG Supports Technology for Social Accountability Expo!

UHMG took part in the Technology for Social Accountability Exposition, which was organised by the National Democratic Institute (NDI) and the International Republican Institute (IRI) to promote the benefits of citizen participation in good governance. The one day expo’s main objective was to bring together the Ugandan civil society working with accountability and transparency, and government institutions responsible for service delivery with technology service providers that have tools and skills to make those efforts more efficient and effective. The speakers focused on four interlinking themes: Emerging Good Governance Applications, Civic Education and Organizing through Technology, Citizen Participation through Mobile Technology, and Technology's Impact on Journalism. UHMG made a presentation under the parallel session ‘Civic Education and Organizing through Technology’ titled ‘The Use of SMS in Health service delivery’. Participants interacted with exhibitors to discuss new technologies and approaches that promote transparency in legislative functions and processes, including monitoring elections. They learned about budget-making and policy processes, advancements in social media, and strengthening participation in government programs. For more information please visit
