The ANC campaign was designed with intent to ensure expectant mothers receive early antenatal care. This means that as soon the expectant mother discovers she is pregnant, she should plan to go for early Antenatal Care. The hidden objective is to ensure mothers can test for HIV and prevent their children from catching the virus if HIV positive.
The ANC Campaign was launched in the South Western part of Uganda under the Star-SW Project, a USAID funded project being implemented by a consortium of partners with Elizabeth Glaser Paediatric AIDS foundation as the lead partner.
